Nanuka Zhorzholiani questions charges, calls case politically motivated

Nanuka Zhorzholiani has challenged the charges against her, questioning why the Prosecutor’s Office waited months to act upon the crime allegations. Speaking to PalitraNews, she pointed out that all financial transactions related to Nanuka’s Foundation were transparent and lawful, providing financial assistance to the unlawfully detained protesters and their families.

As she was accused of ‘financing criminals’, she argued that even the government-influenced courts had not convicted those she helped. She has also alleged political motivations, criticizing the case’s heavy reliance on a lawsuit from what she called a ‘shameless Russian man’.

She responded to the allegations of providing material support to activists as ungrounded, saying that distributing balaclavas and gas masks was legal at the time. ‘No matter the cost, those prison cards will be filled every month.’ Zhorzholiani stated and emphasized her continued support to the protesters despite such legal pressures.
