“It is very unfortunate that while young people are leading in the vaccination component, the demand for vaccination is still low in the older age groups,” said Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze.
The Minister noted that after analyzing the data, it was found that fatalities above 60 years are particularly high.
“This gives us reason to intensively call for the vaccination of our citizens over the age of 60. The critical age for men is 70-79 years and for women 80-90 years. We have a low demand for vaccinations in that age group. We believe that if this pyramid is not changed adequately, and we will not follow the vaccination calendar set last year by international partners as well as local experts, otherwise, we will unfortunately still be left with overcrowded clinics and high rates,” said Tikaradze.
