More than 3,000 Georgian citizens have been restricted from entering European countries – the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, stated at a briefing held in the ministry.
He claimed that it is the duty of every citizen to take care of the visa free travel opportunity.
“We have launched an airport exit control system, which means that our officers check on the spot the documents that must be checked in European airports, and if there is a violation in the documents, that is, a person has certain prohibitions, naturally, they are removed from the flight and their departure to Europe is no longer allowed. More than 3,000 citizens have already been restricted from entering European countries,” said Darakhvelidze.
On Monday, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, discussed the issues related to the visa-free travel of Georgian citizens in the European Union and the Schengen area during a meeting with the State Secretary of the Kingdom of Belgium, Nicole de Moor.
