Georgia is moving away from its own stated desire for Euro-Atlantic integration with anti-democratic actions, – said Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department.
In particular, he spoke about the so-called bill prepared against LGBT propaganda, which was adopted by the parliamentary majority – with 84 votes.
Miller claimed that there are many questions about the law. “I know that they [the Parliament of Georgia] passed it [the anti-LGBT law], but as far as I know, it has not yet become a law, there are still questions about this bill, its final status, whether it will become a law or not.
“However, as we have been saying for months, Georgia is moving away from its own declared desire and the people’s clear desire for Euro-Atlantic integration, by anti-democratic actions, by putting pressure on vulnerable and marginalized people… and this law is in line with that,” said the US State Department spokesman.
