Aleksi Akhvlediani, Head of the Maritime Transport Agency, has been detained as a suspect in connection with the case involving former Adjara Government Chairman Tornike Rizhvadze. Based on available information, Akhvlediani is charged under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for the negligent storage of a firearm.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tornike Rizhvadze was admitted to Sagarejo GeoHospitals on July 7 with a gunshot wound to the chest. He received emergency medical assistance.
Doctors confirmed that Rijvadze has sustained lung damage and remains in critically stable condition.
An investigation is ongoing under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns incitement to suicide. The ministry stated that intensive investigative actions are being carried out in connection with the incident.
