Levan Khabeishvili Voted in as UNM Chairman

Levan Khabeishvili was named the chairman of the political party National Movement, having received 52.58% of the votes in the elections.

“The number of voters registered for the elections is 49,638. 41,264 people took part in the elections. The number of votes by electoral subjects is as follows – Nona Mamulashvili 1,537 votes, which is 3.73% of the votes, Nika Melia 16,476 votes – 40%, Giorgi Mumladze 1,516 votes – 3.68%, Levan Khabeishvili 21,656 votes – 52.58%,” stated the chairman of the political council, Koba Nakopia.

For registration and voting, the party used the blockchain system.

Reactions

“I was on my way to the court of President Saakashvili when I heard about the win. The first step will obviously be regarding Saakashvili,” Khabeishvili said.

“I stay in this fight, which I joined in 2013. I will be in the vanguard of this battle, together with thousands of supporters of the National Movement. I will stay in United National Movement while Mikheil Saakashvili is in captivity. I will be in the vanguard of the fight against the Georgian Dream with even more energy,” noted Nika Melia.

Giuli Alasania, Mikheil Saakashvili’s mother, stated his position on the election, pointing out that Saakashvili has great respect for Melia and regards him as a real hero, but now, today, he congratulates Levan Khabeishvili and wishes him great success and reminds everyone that strength is in unity so that there is no conversation about disintegration.

“Khabeishvili will bring more destruction and mistakes to the party – this is the beginning of the end, I would say, the phase before the end of this political party,” said Mikheil Sarjveladze, chairman of the Human Rights Committee.
