Georgia’s double Olympic champion, judoka Lasha Bekauri (90kg) has claimed the gold medal at the European Open tournament in Spain. Bekauri defeated Spanish judoka Daniel Nieto-Trinidad in just eight seconds in the final bout, securing his first title since the Olympic Games.
Bekauri was Georgia’s only competitor at the event, using the tournament as part of his buildup to the 2025 World Judo Championships, set to take place from June 13 to 20.
