Prime Minister and Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze stated that while the Trump administration’s attitude toward Georgia has changed compared to its predecessor, it failed to correct past injustices. “Unjust sanctions remain, and our proposal to reset relations has gone unanswered,” he said at the party office.
Kobakhidze reiterated Georgian Dream’s support for Donald Trump, expressing hope that he will fulfill his campaign promise to dismantle the “Deep State.” Otherwise, he warned, the so-called “global war party” will continue to destabilize both America and Europe.
He claimed this “global war party” seeks to prolong the Russia-Ukraine war and draw Europe into full-scale involvement. “The plan is to destroy both Europe and Russia. Calls for increased military spending, long-range weapons, and war preparations clearly point to this,” Kobakhidze said, referencing recent EU military commitments, including plans to allocate 5% of GDP to defense.
In this context, Kobakhidze warned of renewed pressure on Georgia to open a second front, and urged the public not to fall for “blackmail and provocations from the European bureaucracy.” He concluded: “We must act with utmost caution to avoid steps that could lead to our country’s destruction.”
