Kobakhidze: Saakashvili’s regime started the war in 2008 – Yes, we saved Georgia

Saakashvili’s regime started the war in 2008. Why didn’t Russia enter Georgia in 2022? Yes, we saved Georgia, – said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, while talking to journalists.

He claimed that if the collective “national movement” comes to power, they will open a second front in Georgia within a week.

“Why didn’t Russia enter Georgia in 2022? Do you have an explanation? We saved it, yes! We saved Georgia, if we had followed the demands made to us not only by high-ranking officials of the Ukrainian government, Russia would have entered Georgia in 2022” the PM claimed.

“I guarantee you that if the collective “national movement” were to come to power, theoretically, they would open a second front in this country within a week.

“In 2008, the Saakashvili regime started the war, which was later acknowledged by signing the European Council resolution. Georgia did not start the war, in 2008 Saakashvili rigged the Presidential elections and after that Saakashvili’s illegitimate regime started the war in August. This was the reality, which was signed by the entire party,” Kobakhidze said.

When asked whether Russia is guilty of starting the war, the Prime Minister answered that it is, but the Saakashvili regime started the war.

“How is he not guilty of the war? Russia occupied our territories, but the war was started by Saakashvili’s regime, which he later signed when he joined the European Council resolution, which clearly states that the war was started by Saakashvili’s regime, and this was followed by Russia’s retaliatory attack. This is an anti-state act, which was implemented by the Saakashvili regime,” he said.
