“The building was in a hazardous condition — it had been classified as fifth-category emergency status, which meant it could not be rehabilitated,” said Kakha Kaladze at the site of the building facade collapse near Station Square. “The local residents were aware of this. Multiple meetings were held at the Didube district administration, and an offer was made for them to participate in a relocation program. Through this program, we would have ensured the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new one. Unfortunately, the implementation of this program requires 100% consent from the residents, which has not yet been achieved.”
