Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated at today’s meeting of the government of the capital that 29 thousand to 60 thousand GEL per year will be allocated from the capital’s budget to finance one citizen diagnosed with breast cancer.
The mayor noted that the program funds HER-2-positive, locally prevalent (Stage I-III), and expensive metastatic breast cancer medications.
“This is a very important program, which has significantly eased the financial burden on women and their families in need and has relieved most of them of property sales and serious credit obligations. It should be noted that the price of one ampoule of medicine is up to 5,000 GEL. In some cases, the combined price of two different medicines for one transfusion exceeds 9,000 GEL,’ said Kakha Kaladze.
