Today, on August 26, at a meeting of the municipal government, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced that Machavariani Street is to be opened in both directions from the second half of the day.
Kaladze started the government session with a request and asked the population to wear a face mask, keep their distance, and get a vaccination.
“We are in a war and we must win this war. We must win with each other’s help and support. Today the battle depends on the responsibility of each individual and it is up to me, you, it is up to us to win this battle,” Kaladze said.
Tbilisi Mayor stated, Machavariani Street will be opened today, where a few months ago, due to the landslide activation and for the safety of people, the movement was stopped.
“Today, in the afternoon, this road will be opened and two-direction traffic will be restored. The main part of preventive work is over. In particular, we have involved local experts and invited German specialists. A special working group was established and any decision regarding the working process, of course, was made in agreement with this commission. As for the new road connecting Machavariani Street and Gelovani, where works are underway, it will be constructed in the near future and another infrastructure project will be added to the city,” stated Kaladze.
