The Italian Embassy in Tbilisi continues its efforts to introduce and popularize the diverse culture of Italy to Georgians, this time featuring the Neapolitan theater group ‘Teatri 35,’ who brought their play to Tbilisi.
“We have once again brought the works of geniuses Michelangelo and Raphael to Georgia, not in the form of an art exhibition, but through a theatrical play that blends music with visual arts,” said Massimiliano D’Antuono, the Italian Ambassador to Georgia, addressing the many guests at the Embassy event and emphasizing the cultural significance of the performance.
‘Teatri 35,’ an experimental theater company with a 20-year history, presented their performance, devoted to the oeuvre of Michelangelo and Raphael, at Marjanishvili Theater on September 9th. The masterpieces of these artists were brought to life on stage through a series of gestures, color schemes, images, and musical sequences.
The show was accompanied by music from Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, and other Baroque composers, performed by the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra.
The theatrical play, ‘Michelangelo and Raphael: Genius and Divine,’ is one of many events in the Italian Embassy’s 2024 campaign to promote regional culture.
The event was executed with the support of TBC Bank and concluded with the audience’s thundering applause.
