Let me say very loud and clear on behalf of the European Union, that we see the people in the streets, we hear their voices and we are shocked by the violence. This is absolutely unacceptable. We stand by the Georgian people, who want a better future, who want Georgia to be a member of the European Union, – Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, told journalists.
He claimed that he was in Brussels last week and met 27 ambassadors of the European Union, as well as new colleagues in the institutions of the European Union.
“On December 16, a meeting of EU foreign ministers will be held and the issue of Georgia will be discussed, the issue of Georgia will also be discussed at the end of next week at the level of heads of states and governments of the European Union.
“What is happening in Georgia, the level of violence, the level of cruelty is absolutely unacceptable. People may have different opinions, this is all part of democracy, but violence, cruelty is absolutely unacceptable.
“Let’s see what happens next week. I think most of us in the EU capitals, as well as in the EU institutions, have reached a stage where we have to act. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, said that there will be consequences. Let’s see what results will be agreed on on Monday of next week”, said the ambassador.
