On the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), the Georgian winter resorts Gudauri and Bakuriani will host World Cup stages in 2023-2024.
The FIS high rankers will arrive in Georgia and select territories for competitions in various disciplines. The decision followed Georgia’s successful hosting of the Bakuriani 2023, FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships.
“For the first time, Georgia will become a part of the annual calendar of the International Ski Federation. Three World Cup competitions will be held in Bakuriani and Gudauri from the end of this year. We will again be able to host such an important sporting event,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
“Also, Georgia and its mountain resorts will be the focus of the international media, and our country will once again show the world how successfully it can hold such a large-scale event at a high level. This will allow us to strengthen the mountain-ski culture in Georgia as an important tourist destination.”
