“We have already spent 138 cold nights in tents, not only the population of the Rioni Valley, but also people from different parts of Georgia. For our country, I’m sure all of us can spend the night together in Kutaisi Central Square on Sunday.”
On March 14, at 13:00, a rally against Namakhvani HPP will be held on Kutaisi Central Square.
Upon the 5th March agreement, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natela Turnava and the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, arrived in Kutaisi at a special invitation to discuss the Namakhvani HPP issue with the local communities.
Despite the promise to thoroughly discuss the problems related to the project plan and hear the local communities out, the ministers left the meeting after several minutes without an explanation.
Guardians of Rioni Valley continue the fight and plan to stay overnight at the rally.
“There is a substantial gap between us and the government. We have already spent 138 cold nights in tents, not only the population of Rioni, but also people from different parts of Georgia. Believe me, this is not a difficult process. For our country, I’m sure all of us can spend the night together in Kutaisi Central Square on Sunday,” one of the guardians, Varlam Goletiani told “Mautskebeli.ge”.
