Saakashvili’s Mother: I Do Not Have Information about My Son’s Arrest

“I haven’t seen him for two days, he was busy, he had things to do, he was coming and going somewhere. I had no information that he was in Georgia, I heard this morning. I have no information about Misha’s arrest, is he arrested? I did not have communication with him,” Giuli Alasania told a TV Pirveli journalist who was traveling with her on a plane.

Before returning to Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili posted a photo of his planned Kyiv-Tbilisi flight on his Facebook page. The flight was scheduled for October 2. As the flight ticket reads he was returning to Georgia with his mother, Giuli Alasania.

Today, October 1, Mikheil Saakashvili returned to Georgia and was arrested and transferred to Rustavi. The former president was sentenced-in-absentia to imprisonment due to his connection with the case of Sandro Girgvliani and the beating of MP Valeri Gelashvili.
