Preliminary data reported by the National Office of Statistics (Geostat) reveals that Georgia has experienced a rise in international travel throughout 2024, with 7.4 million non-resident arrivals, a 4.2% increase. The majority of visitors were aged between 31 and 50, with women accounting for 41.8% of total entering individuals.
Out of all the arrivals, 5.4 million were categorized as international visitors, a 5.4% increase, while tourism visits have reached 5.1 million, an increase of 9%. 78.8% of all visitors, meaning the majority, were tourists, with 17.2% excursionists and 4% engaged in multiple types of travel.
Visitors primarily came from:
- Russia (1.2 million, 22.4%)
- Turkey (19.0%)
- Armenia (12.7%)
The top destinations were Tbilisi and Adjara, with the majority traveling for leisure-related reasons. The stays averaged 5.5 nights, a rise of 2.6% compared to 2023, while 76% were repeat visitors.
The total amount of expenditures related to international travel reached 14.3 billion GEL, a 10.3 rise, and the average spending per visit increased by 5.4% to 2,211 GEL.
