In the first ten months of 2025, Georgia re-exported a record 93,000 vehicles abroad, with a total value of $2.3 billion, a significant milestone for the country’s automotive trade.
Approximately half of these vehicles were exported to Kyrgyzstan, a relatively poor country in Central Asia. Notably, the average value of vehicles exported to Kyrgyzstan this year was $33,000, making them more expensive on average than those sent to most other destinations. Demand for higher-priced cars in Kyrgyzstan is fueled in part by dealers who resell some vehicles to Russia which is not participating in international trade sanctions.
Exports to other Central Asian countries also saw remarkable growth. Vehicle shipments to Tajikistan increased by 494%, to Uzbekistan by 593%, and to Turkmenistan by a staggering 2,271% compared to the previous year.
By contrast, re-exports to neighboring South Caucasus countries declined. Exports to Azerbaijan fell by 29%, totaling $181 million, while shipments to Armenia dropped 48% to $46 million.
