The National Office of Statistics (Geostat) published a report, revealing a small decline in the subsistence minimum for working-age male individuals in December 2024. More specifically, it went from ₾262.4 ($92.73) to ₾260.3 ($91.99).
Moreover, the subsistence minimum, reflecting the minimum income necessary to meet basic consumer products and services, for the average consumer also went down from ₾1.90 ($0.67) to ₾230.5 ($81.46) in December. Individuals earning below the set threshold are considered to be in material scarcity.
The subsistence minimum is calculated based on a basket of 40 essential products, including bread, cereals, dairy, vegetables, and confectionery, items representing the core needs necessary for the most basic standard of living.
