Geostat published new data revealing that Georgia’s annual inflation went up to 4.6% in August, the highest level recorded in the past two years. The rise is being driven primarily by food and healthcare costs which increased by 10% and 9.3% year-on-year, respectively.
Within healthcare, hospital services recorded the sharpest jump, with prices rising by 26% compared to the same period last year. Other medical-related expenses also rose, including:
- Painkillers: +22%
- Therapist consultations: +15%
- Vasodilator medicines: +12%
- Vitamins: +11%
- Blood tests: +8%
- Ultrasound: +6%
- Dental services (filling, extraction): +4%
- Anti-inflammatory and digestive system medicines: +3% each
- Eyeglass lenses: +2%
- Syringes, cotton: +1%
- Surgical services: +1%.
