Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has congratulated Péter Magyar and his party on their victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections, while also expressing gratitude to outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for his long-standing support of Georgia.
In a statement posted on social media, Kobakhidze said that, on behalf of the Georgian people and government, he extends his congratulations to Magyar and his political team following their electoral win.
At the same time, the Georgian prime minister thanked Orbán and his government for their “exceptional and steadfast support” of Georgia’s national interests and the Georgian people over the years.
“Georgia and Hungary share a long history of friendship and partnership, which will undoubtedly continue,” Kobakhidze wrote.
Magyar’s victory marks a major political shift in Hungary, ending Orbán’s 16-year tenure in power and opening a new chapter in the country’s domestic and foreign policy direction.
