Maia Omiadze, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, highlighted the importance of hosting World Tourism Day, with the freshly announced theme ‘Tourism and Peace,’ in Georgia for the first time.
“From our country, we will send a message to the world about the importance of peace for the development of tourism,” Omiadze stated.
On September 27, representatives from international organizations and notable figures in the tourism industry will meet with Georgian government officials to discuss global trends in tourism.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Economy Minister, clarified that 25 ministers and other prominent figures from the tourism and transport sectors will attend the upcoming meeting.
The decision to host this paramount event in Georgia was unanimously approved by 38 members of the European Commission of the WTO in 2023.
