For the first time in history, Georgia will host the Freeride World Tour in March of 2024. Georgia contended among the six contender countries (Canada, Andorra, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Georgia) and the decision was made in Annecy, France, at the Freeride annual event.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the decision will significantly contribute to the winter sports and tourism development in Georgia.
“This gives us the opportunity to take our mountain-ski tourism products to a new level. It will greatly increase the awareness of our country, including Svaneti, as a tourist destination, which will further strengthen the tourism brand of our country. It will also contribute to the arrival of more international travelers to the various resorts of our country during the winter tourist season,” she said.
Freeride World Tour covers 300 million viewers. Fifty athletes will participate in the 2024 Freeride World Tour.
