The ruling party Georgian Dream is introducing new amendments to the Broadcasting Law that will regulate television/radio broadcasters and online media more heavily.
The proposed changes are currently being evaluated to ensure that they align with the evolving digital space, with Archil Gorduladze, chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, presenting the revised version of the proposal during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy.
“During the first reading, we reached a consensus that content standards applied to broadcasters should also cover online media,” Gorduladze stated, pointing out the necessity for regulations that keep up with advancing technology and new forms of information transmission.
