Under the new rules, starting from today, candidates will pass the theoretical exam if they answer 25 out of 30 questions correctly, instead of the previous requirement of 27 correct answers.
Further changes will come into effect from June 15.
During the second stage of the practical exam, which involves driving in urban conditions, examiners will give candidates a “reasonable period” to correct mistakes and provide instructions where necessary.
In addition, the number of minor errors allowed during the test has been increased from 12 to 15.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says candidates must pass three stages to obtain a driving licence in Georgia: theoretical testing, a closed-area practical exam, and a city driving test.
The agency adds that from May 22, candidates who pass the first practical stage will be able to register for the city driving exam.
