In December 2023, compared to the previous month, interest rates on loans decreased. In particular, according to the data of the National Bank, in November the interest rate on loans was 13.69%, and in December this rate decreased to 12.94%. The reduction is also recorded in annual terms, namely, in December 2022, interest rates on loans were 13.14%.
It should be noted that in December 2023, the decrease mostly affected credits taken in GEL. In contrast to loans issued in GEL, interest rates on loans issued in foreign currency have increased. In particular, according to National Bank of Georgia statistics, the average interest rates on loans in foreign currency in December 2023 were 9.01%, in November of the same year – 8.58%, and in December 2022 – 8.57%.
