For Georgia calls on ‘Georgian Dream’ to withdraw the Russian law

The For Georgia political party, among others, is calling on the government to withdraw the Russian law.

At the briefing held today, April 15, the party members stated that neither they nor the citizens of Georgia will ever support a bill that goes against national interests.

“We will only support laws that meet two conditions covering Georgia’s national interests:

  1. The law should protect us from enemies, namely from the occupant state’s hostile influence.
  2. The law should not divide or confront our society by labeling people as agents or traitors.

“These are the kinds of laws seen in France, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and other Western countries.

“Georgian Dream, who claim they have copied American and European laws, are attempting to adopt Russian laws – similar to those in Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia, and Hungary. As usual, GD says one thing and does another!

“If GD denies protecting the national interests of Georgia and ignores these two conditions, if GD fails to identify the enemy as the enemy and does not direct their laws solely towards the occupant country – Russia, Georgian society will once more see that GD’s sole purpose is to divide our society and put people against each other under the guise of “transparency”.

“If this is not the case, GD must abandon the Russian law and establish a common reporting standard for all grant recipients, whether the grant is issued by Kezerashvili, Ivanishvili, or anyone else.

“We emphasize that the only law to be adopted in Georgia is one that does not declare the EU as an enemy but rather suppresses the influence of the occupier.

“If GD adopts the Russian law, it will be clear that under Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream governance, Georgia will not be able to become an EU member and will remain under the influence of Russia.

“We call on all MPs to call the enemy the enemy and a friend a friend! No one will forgive you if the future of our country is taken away!

“Responsibilities will be personalized!” – For Georgia party members announced.
