Finalists announced for 2025 Saba Literary Award: Best Georgian Translations

Finalists announced for 2025 Saba Literary Award: Best Georgian Translations

The 2025 Saba Literary Award, founded in 2003 by TBC and Rati Amaghlobeli, will celebrate its 23rd edition this year. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to Georgian literature in multiple categories, including original works and translations.

This year, the jury will select winners across nine categories. While finalists have already been announced in eight of the categories, the winner of the “Special Contribution to the Development of Literature” category will be revealed alongside the other winners.

The finalists for the 2025 ‘Best Georgian Translation’ category include:

  • Maia Badridze for Max Weber’s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism (Diogene)
  • Katia Voltersi for Olga Tokarczuk’s The Banquet of the Empresses (Intelekti)
  • Ani Kopaliani for Adam Mickiewicz’s Ghiadi (Intelektu)
  • Giorgi Macharashvili for Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces (Palitra L)
  • Gvantsa Fofkhadze for Lucius Annaeus Seneca’s Moral Letters to Lucilius (Diogene)
  • Oktay Kazumov for Günel Movlud’s The Camp (Sulakauri Publishing)
  • Karda Kardukhi for Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology (Intelekti)
  • Manana Gharibashvili for Publius Ovidius Naso’s Voice from the Tribe (Artanuji)
  • Bachana Chabradze for Antonin Artaud’s The Theatre and Its Double (Center for the Development of Contemporary Theatrical Arts)
  • Zaza Chiladze for Cormac McCarthy’s The Road (Sulakauri Publishing).
