Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency reported that European University is planning to acquire 100% of St. Michael’s Hospital in Tbilisi. The agency is reviewing the proposed transaction to assess its compatibility with the competitive environment. Interested parties may submit comments on the concentration until December 30, 2025.
St. Michael’s Hospital, located on Zhvania Street in Tbilisi, operates in the medical services market. The hospital’s 2024 financial report shows that it generated GEL 15 million in revenue but posted a loss of GEL 6 million. Its total assets stand at GEL 33.5 million, with liabilities of GEL 21 million. Currently, the hospital is fully owned by Kartlos Diasamidze.
European University operates primarily in the higher education sector, including a medical faculty, suggesting that the hospital acquisition may support practical training for medical students. The university’s 2024 financial report recorded GEL 47 million in revenue and a net profit of GEL 11.7 million. The institution is fully owned by Lasha Kandelakishvili.
