Education and Science Committee Discusses Changes to Law on Defense Academy Education

The Education and Science Committee discussed with the second reading the Bill on Higher Education a change to be introduced to the Article on the rights of students.

One of the initiators, Eka Sepashvili, noted the change envisages a different regulation of the mobility and termination of the status of the students in David Agmashenebeli National Defense Academy, and maintains the uninterruptedness of the defense and security sphere with qualified personnel, also ensures optimization of the targeted consumption of budget assets.

“Persons enrolled for the Master’s program shall, in an uninterrupted manner, master the respective educational program. The accomplishment of a program within the established term (2 years) ensures the timely fulfillment of the objectives designated for the Defense Academy, and on the other hand, the smooth composition of the defense and security sector with the personnel equipped with respective qualifications and skills,” the reporter noted.

The Committee approved the Bill on Higher Education with the third reading envisaging the training and recruitment of the pedagogues within the shortest period.
