US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States has launched what he described as a “major military operation” in Iran.
Trump says the objective of the US strikes is to destroy elements of Iran’s naval fleet and missile capabilities. He warned that American casualties are possible as the operation unfolds.
“We may lose the lives of brave American heroes, and there may be casualties, as often happens in war. But we are doing this not for the present, but for the future. This is a noble mission,” Trump said.
The announcement comes amid rapidly escalating tensions in the region. Earlier today, beginning in the early hours of February 28, the Israel Defense Forces reported that they had launched what they called “preventive strikes” against Iran.
The developments mark a significant intensification of the Israel–Iran confrontation, raising concerns about broader regional instability and the potential for further military escalation.
