A severe mudslide triggered by heavy rainfall has caused significant destruction in Georgia’s Adigeni municipality, leaving multiple families displaced and homes damaged.
In the village of Gomaro, seven families were directly affected as the powerful flow of mud and debris swept through residential areas. One home was nearly completely buried, with furniture, appliances, and personal belongings destroyed. Around ten vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
The affected families have temporarily taken shelter with neighbors while waiting for heavy machinery to arrive and begin clearing the area.
Residents say the rain started around 6:00 p.m. yesterday and rapidly intensified, leading to the collapse of auxiliary structures, the destruction of fences, and the inundation of several homes.
The nearby village of Shoka has also suffered damage from the disaster, with additional assessments underway to determine the full extent of the impact.
