The US Ambassador, Kelly Degnan, spoke about whether the deoligarchization law should be sent to the Venice Commission and noted that the deoligarchization law is complex and therefore it is important to have it reviewed by European law experts.
“I think there was some confusion about that. The same law which was developed by Ukraine and was forwarded to the Venice Commission, was later recalled and is not awaiting a conclusion at this stage, however, since this law is a new direction, and is quite complex, it is very important that European legal experts review this law, study it and then make conclusions based on its complexity. I think it will be very useful for Georgia,” said the Ambassador.
