The court has ordered pre-trial detention for former head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili.
The decision was issued by Judge Arsen Kalatozishvili.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for February 16 at 12:00.
Today’s court session was held behind closed doors at the request of the prosecution. Liluashvili was not present at the hearing.
For background, Liluashvili was arrested on December 23 after appearing at the Prosecutor’s Office for questioning. He is charged under Article 338, Part 2, Subparagraph “c,” and Part 3, Subparagraph “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concern accepting a bribe in a particularly large amount by a group acting in prior agreement. The charges carry a potential sentence of 11 to 15 years in prison.
