Citizens over 18 to be Involved in Vaccination with Sinopharm

Citizens over the age of 18 will be involved in the vaccination process with Chinese ‘Sinopharm,’ the Minister of Health of Georgia Ekaterine Tikaradze announced at the briefing held after a meeting of the Immunization Council today.

She noted that there are a number of important studies that Sinopharm is a safe vaccine for citizens aged 18 – 60.

“It has been decided that a portal will be opened for citizens over 18 today, at 20:00, where they will be able to register for vaccination. The reason for this is that there are a number of important studies where Sinopharm is a safe vaccine for citizens aged 18 to 60 years. Therefore, the council relied on the international decision and we give our citizens the opportunity to be vaccinated with Sinopharm,” said Tikaradze.

The immunization process will kick off on May 4. Sinopharm is the third available COVID-19 vaccine for the Georgian population after AstraZeneca and Pfizer.

Vaccination in Georgia started on March 15.

As of April 27, a total of 40,095 jabs were administered, while 3622 people are fully vaccinated.

To make a reservation for the vaccine jabs, visit booking.moh.gov.ge or call 1522.
