Based on the decision of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), the circulation term of Georgian Lari (GEL) banknotes issued between 1995 and 1999 expired on January 1, 2022.
Banknotes of all GEL denominations issued since 2002 are still legal tender across the country.
“All legal entities and individuals are obliged to receive and pay with these banknotes without any problems,” announced the NBG.
Banknotes of the 1995-99 issue can be exchanged at the cash centers of the National Bank of Georgia.
