“President” of occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhanai’s press service says the de facto president’s administration is currently preparing a document on withdrawing the draft law on the investment agreement with Russia from “parliament” following severe protests from the “opposition” and their supporters.
“This decision was made in order to stabilize the situation in the republic,” the statement said.
The participants of the protest rally stormed the “parliament” building.
It was also reported that Bzhania had left the parliament building.
Recently, representatives of law enforcement agencies held talks with protesters, after which they announced that they would convey the people’s demands to the de facto president.
Law enforcement officers fired tear gas at a demonstration near the de facto parliament of Abkhazia.
“This has never happened in the modern history of Abkhazia,” writes the Telegram channel “RESPUBLICA.”
The protest followed a session in the de facto parliament regarding the investment agreement with Russia, which was canceled.
