The press service of “President” of occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhanai, says the de facto president’s administration is currently preparing a document on withdrawing the draft law on the investment agreement with Russia from “parliament” following severe protests from the “opposition” and their supporters.
“This decision was made in order to stabilize the situation in the republic,” the statement said, following the storming of the parliament building by protesters, soon after which it was reported that Bzhania had left the building.
Representatives of law enforcement agencies held talks with protesters, after which they announced that they would convey the people’s demands to the de facto president. Prior to that, they had fired tear gas at a demonstration near the building.
“This has never happened in the modern history of Abkhazia,” wrote Telegram channel RESPUBLICA.
