As the August 4 order signed by Irakli Kobakhidze reveals, Batu Gurjidze has been named the fifth deputy to Georgia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Revaz Sokhadze.
An economist by education, Gurjidze graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with degrees in Economics and Commerce and Marketing. He has served as head of the Economic Department at the Ministry of Infrastructure since early 2025, following more than a decade in the same role at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. His public sector career began in 2009, giving him over 16 years of experience in public financial management, budget planning, and economic analysis. He has led multiple departments, including financial policy, finance and budget, as well as economic analysis across various government ministrie and also has experience inprivate sector.
Following the restructuring that split the Ministry of Infrastructure from the Ministry of Regional Development, Ilia Begiashvili and Mzia Giorgobiani remained as deputy ministers. Afterwards, Minister Sokhadze appointed Giorgi Koberidze, Vakhtang Bagrationi and now Batu Gurjidze to his leadership team.
