As of 1 January 2026, a new regulation has entered into force in Georgia requiring all foreign nationals and visitors entering the country to have mandatory travel insurance covering their entire stay. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure immediate access to emergency medical services when needed. According to ARDI, the new regulation has significantly increased demand for the company’s long-established insurance product for inbound visitors — Welcomer – Travel in Georgia Insurance, which has been successfully serving foreign guests with full emergency medical coverage for over 10 years.
The Welcomer policy, with an aggregated limit of 30,000 GEL, fully complies with the requirements defined by Georgian legislation. It is designed for all types of visitors — from tourists and students to business travelers and expats staying in Georgia for up to one year. ARDI’s extensive experience, the country’s broadest network of medical providers, and an efficient operational service system enable the company to effectively support foreign citizens visiting Georgia for any purpose or duration.
For Welcomer policyholders, access to services is as simple as possible. A single call to ARDI’s 24/7 Contact Center (0322 101010) ensures rapid organization of full emergency medical assistance across Georgia, including: emergency hospitalization, outpatient services, urgent dentistry and ophthalmology, medical evacuation, and repatriation. Additionally, ARDI offers several unique coverages for foreign visitors, such as:
– Tourist civil liability insurance
– Personal belongings insurance
– Interpreter service expenses
– Personal legal assistance costs
In cases where a foreign citizen remains in Georgia for work or residency purposes for one year or longer, ARDI recommends purchasing a full annual medical insurance package. ARDI’s individual medical insurance program, “Vitamins,” has been in effect since 2015 and is considered one of the most comprehensive individual insurance packages on the Georgian market. In addition to emergency services, it also covers all types of planned medical care — including medication expenses, medical check-ups, and routine dental services.
