Air China will begin operating regular flights between Beijing and Tbilisi, a significant step in expanding aviation ties between Georgia and China. The application submitted by the airline reveals that the new service will run via Ürümqi and is scheduled to start on December 2.

The introduction of direct flights follows the Georgian Prime Minister’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China where civil aviation cooperation was a main topic of discussion. During the visit, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, signed a memorandum of understanding focused on developing the Air Silk Road. The agreement advances liberal air transport corridors and deepen bilateral collaboration in the aviation sector.

The Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia has now granted Air China the required operating permit, confirming that flights will be conducted twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Officials note that the new route is expected to strengthen economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Air China has been present in the Georgian market since December 2024. The airline currently operates twice-weekly flights between Tbilisi and Ürümqi and has already transported 25,035 passengers in the first ten months of this year.
