According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Beka Jaiani, 27, has been taken into custody for the murder of 37-year-old transgender model and public figure Kesaria Abramidze. The incident occurred at Abramidze’s apartment in Didi Dighomi yesterday, September 18, following a “mutual altercation.”
Law enforcement detained Jaiani soon after the crime and retrieved a knife as the murder weapon.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that the investigation has begun under Article 109 of the Criminal Code as a premeditated murder with special cruelty based on gender. In case of conviction, Jaiani will be sentenced to 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
