The Civil Aviation Agency reports that air travel in Georgia continued to expand in 2025, with neighboring countries remaining the dominant routes for passengers. A total of 8.49 million passengers passed through Georgian airports last year.

Flights connecting Georgia with nearby countries accounted for the largest share of traffic. In 2025, 3.1 million people, 36% of total passengers, traveled to neighboring states.

  • Türkiye led with 1.4 million passengers
  • Russia followed with 1.1 million
  • Azerbaijan reached 470,000 passengers
  • Armenia accounted for 53,000 passengers

The European Union ranked as the second-largest market, representing 28% of total traffic, or nearly 2.4 million passengers.

Meanwhile, routes to the Gulf countries formed the third-largest segment, with over 1 million passengers traveling between Georgia and the region.

Tbilisi International Airport remained the country’s primary aviation hub, serving 4.98 million passengers, an 11% increase year-on-year.

Other major airports also reported growth:

  • Kutaisi International Airport handled 1.69 million passengers
  • Batumi International Airport recorded 1.16 million passengers, posting a strong 30% annual increase.

Beyond passenger traffic, Georgia’s aviation sector saw a sharp rise in cargo activity. Air freight volumes increased by 50%, reaching 38,578 tons in 2025.
