Geostat reported that Georgia’s tourism sector continued to expand in 2025, driven by growing international arrivals and higher overall spending, despite a small decline in average expenditure per visitor.

Total spending by foreign visitors reached 15 billion GEL last year, a 5% increase compared to 2024. This growth came even as average spending per trip fell by 1.1%, with each international visitor spending an average of 2,187 GEL during their stay.

The country recorded 7.8 million international arrivals in 2025, representing a 6% year-on-year increase. Of these, 6.9 million were classified as international tourist trips, also up 6% compared to the previous year. Tourism-type visits, a narrower category, rose even faster, increasing by 8% to reach 5.5 million.

Visitors from neighboring countries continued to dominate inbound travel. Russia accounted for the largest share, contributing 23% of all international visits. Turkey followed with 17% while Armenia represented 12% of arrivals. In absolute terms, Russian visitors made 1.6 million trips, Turkish tourists 1.2 million and Armenian travelers around 0.9 million.

Overall, the figures indicate that Georgia’s tourism growth in 2025 was fueled primarily by higher visitor volumes rather than increased spending per individual trip.
