Tbilisi has officially wrapped up its Christmas and New Year celebrations for 2026, bringing to a close a 34-day program of festive events across the capital.

Speaking at a session of the Tbilisi City Government, Mayor Kakha Kaladze said this year’s holiday program was particularly large-scale and diverse, designed to engage both residents and visitors.

Kaladze expressed gratitude to the Tbilisi City Hall staff and all municipal services involved in organizing the events, highlighting the coordinated effort required to deliver such an extensive program. He also thanked the Ministry of Internal Affairs for ensuring public order and safety during the celebrations, emphasizing that special attention was paid to maintaining calm and preventing incidents at major venues.

The mayor also acknowledged the role of private companies, entrepreneurs and market vendors whose participation was essential to the success of the New Year market as well as artists, performers, bands and creative groups who contributed to the cultural program. He said the city plans to continue this tradition in the coming years to create a festive and memorable environment for both locals and tourists.

Beyond the events themselves, Kaladze addressed broader national themes, underlining the importance of peace amid ongoing global tensions. He stated that the government’s policies are focused on preserving stability and calm within the country, describing peace as having no alternative.

Concluding his remarks, the mayor extended New Year greetings to the population, wishing peace, health and well-being, and expressed hope that kindness, joy, love, and happiness would define 2026.
