Flights at Kutaisi International Airport continue to operate on schedule despite severe weather and heavy snowfall affecting western Georgia. United Airports of Georgia stated that airport services remain fully operational and have been carrying out all necessary safety procedures without disruption.
Even under intense snowfall, specialized teams are performing aircraft de-icing operations in a timely manner while the runway and taxiways are being continuously cleared to ensure safe takeoffs and landings. As a result, all scheduled arrivals and departures are proceeding as planned.
The airport authority reported that only one flight, the early morning service to Athens and its return leg, was not operated. No other cancellations or delays have been recorded.
In addition, airport services assisted 12 passengers who were stranded near Brotseula railway station after a temporary suspension of a Tbilisi–Batumi train due to adverse weather conditions. The passengers were transported to Kutaisi International Airport to continue their journey.
Weather conditions in the airport area are expected to remain challenging through the first half of January 2 but airport operations are not currently affected.
