The German Foreign Ministry has summoned Georgia’s Chargé d’Affaires, condemning what it called unfounded accusations and aggressive rhetoric by Georgian authorities directed at the German ambassador in Tbilisi.
“Today, the Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia was invited to the German Foreign Ministry. We conveyed a clear message: the unfounded accusations and aggressive rhetoric by Georgian authorities against the German ambassador in Tbilisi are unacceptable and must stop,” the ministry stated on X.
This development follows a series of similar actions by Georgian authorities. On September 24, 2025, Georgia’s Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador Peter Fischer to express concerns over alleged radicalization. The next day, British Ambassador Gareth Ward was also summoned, as Georgian Dream escalated attacks on Western diplomats, accusing them of meddling in the country’s internal affairs.
These actions have strained Georgia’s relations with its Western allies, raising concerns about the country’s commitment to European integration and democratic values.
