Law enforcement officers have detained a fugitive who had been wanted in Georgia for more than two decades, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
The detainee, identified as I.A., born in 1987, was found and captured at Tbilisi International Airport while attempting to cross the border with a passport issued in another person’s name.
The Ministry stated that I.A. had been wanted since 2004 on charges of intentional infliction of bodily harm and committing acts of a sexual nature. His arrest was carried out through joint operational and search efforts by the Kvemo Kartli Police Department and the Patrol Police Department.
Following the arrest, I.A. was transferred to a penitentiary facility.
