US Embassy: ‘Agile Spirit’ shows US commitment to Black Sea stability and allied cooperation

The US Embassy in Georgia has emphasized that the ongoing multinational military exercise Agile Spirit 2025 highlights the United States’ enduring commitment to the stability of the Black Sea region and the importance of allied cooperation.

In a statement released on social media, the Embassy underscored the significance of the exercises:

“Strengthening partnerships and promoting regional security! These exercises clearly demonstrate the United States’ commitment to the stability of the Black Sea region, as well as the strength and importance of allied cooperation.”

As part of the exercise, soldiers from the US Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade’s 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, conducted a joint convoy operation with Georgian troops, moving from the Senaki to the Vaziani training range.

Georgia is hosting Agile Spirit for the 12th time. This year’s iteration, held in both Georgia and Türkiye, officially opened on July 25 at the NATO–Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) in Krtsanisi.

Senior Georgian and US military officials attended the opening ceremony, including First Deputy Minister of Defense Paata Patiashvili, Major General Irakli Chichinadze, Brigadier General Terry Tillis of the US 7th Army Training Command, and Colonel William Cox of the Georgia National Guard. They addressed the assembled troops and emphasized the importance of international military collaboration.

The Georgian Ministry of Defense says Agile Spirit 2025 involves military personnel from Georgia, the US, Türkiye, and eight other nations. Two multinational units are participating, while representatives from two additional countries are observing. The goal is to improve defense readiness, strengthen interoperability, and boost operational capabilities across allied forces.

The exercise began with a US–Turkish airborne operation near Adana, Türkiye, on July 21, and continues across training ranges in Georgia, promoting security and cooperation across the region.
