NBG to release collector coin for Bakuriani 2025

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) is launching the sale of a collector coin dedicated to the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival, Bakuriani 2025.

The sale began on March 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM via the online platform www.tkt.ge and the cash desks of the National Bank.

For the first three days, purchases will only be available on Tkt.ge, with additional costs for delivery, insurance, and service fees. Starting March 13, 2025, if stock remains, the coin will also be available on the NBG Money Museum online store.

Coins will be available for purchase at the National Bank Cash Center and the Kvareli Money Museum: Cash Center (Tbilisi, Iason Lortkipanidze St. 2 / Kakheti Highway 72); Kvareli Money Museum (Kvareli, Shota Rustaveli St. 10);

To ensure broader availability, sales will be limited to one coin per customer for the first five days across all official channels. The price per coin is 110 GEL.

The coin was designed in collaboration with the Bakuriani 2025 Organizing Committee and minted in 5,000 copies by the Polish Mint.

The 2025 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF) took place from February 9 to 16, 2025, in Bakuriani, Georgia. This event marked Georgia’s inaugural hosting of the winter edition, following its organization of the summer festival in 2015.

Participating Nations and Athletes

The festival featured 901 athletes representing 45 European countries. Notably, Russia and Belarus were excluded from participation due to sanctions related to geopolitical events.

Sports and Events

Athletes competed across eight sports, encompassing 38 events:

  • Biathlon
  • Ice Hockey
  • Figure Skating
  • Short Track Speed Skating
  • Freestyle Skiing
  • Alpine Skiing
  • Cross-Country Skiing
  • Snowboarding

Compared to the previous edition, the 2025 festival did not include Curling, Ski Mountaineering, Ski Jumping, and Nordic Combined.

Venues

Competitions were held across multiple venues:

  • Bakuriani Biathlon-Cross Country Stadium: Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing
  • Didveli: Freestyle Skiing, Alpine Skiing, and Snowboarding
  • Batumi Ice Arena: Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating
  • Tbilisi Ice Arena: Ice Hockey

The 2025 EYOF in Bakuriani showcased Europe’s young athletic talent, fostering sportsmanship and cultural exchange among participating nations.
